Veg Manchurian is one of the popular indo chinese recipe which can be made as dry or as gravy which will go very well with fried rice.
Makes:12 Veg Manchurian balls
Ingredients:
Veg Manchurian Balls:
1/2 cup grated Carrot
1/2 cup grated Cauliflower
1/2 cup grated Cabbage
1 tbsp Maida/all purpose flour
1 tbsp Cornflour
1/2 tsp Pepper Powder
Salt to taste
Sauce:
1/2 medium Onion
1/2 tbsp Ginger finely chopped
1/2 tbsp garlic finely chopped
1 Green Chilly
1 tbsp Tomato sauce
1/2 tbsp Soy sauce
1/2 tbsp Vinegar
3/4 cup Water
1/2 tsp Pepper Powder
1/2 tsp Red Chilly Powder
1/2 tbsp Corn flour mixed in 1 tbsp water
Salt,Sugar to taste
Spring onion greens to garnish
Method:
Veg Manchurian Balls:
1.Grate carrots, cabbage and cauliflower.
2.Mix all the ingredients under Veg Manchurian Balls except salt.
3.Keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes. veggies will release water which will help in making balls.
4.Add salt just before making balls and make lemon sized round balls.
5.Heat oil in deep pan. When oil is hot deep fry the veg balls and drain on tissue/napkins.
6.You can shallow fry too.
Sauce:
1.Chop Onion, green chilli, ginger and garlic and keep aside.
1.Heat oil in wide pan. Fry onion, green chilly, tomato sauce ,ginger ,garlic together.
2.Add water, soy sauce, tomato sauce ,pepper, red chilly powder. Mix well and saute for 1 minute.
3.Add corn flour paste to thicken sauce.
4.keep stirring till sauce gets thickened to desired consistency.
5.Now add vinegar, salt and sugar and mix well. Switch off and let it cool for sometime
Add veg balls to sauce just before serving.
Garnish with spring onion greens and serve with Veg Fried Rice or any other dish.
Note:
If sauce is cold, slightly warm sauce before serving and add veg balls to it.
Don't add balls when sauce is very hot.
